Together with Ramen, Curry Rice (Kare Raisu) is considered one the national dishes in Japan, being introduced from India by the British during the Meiji Era (1868–1912) According to a record, the first japanese person to eat curry was Kenjiro Yamakawa , a 16-year-old member of the Aizu Byakkotai warriors.
